Kananginak Pootoogook (born 1935) is one of Cape Dorset’s most well known and prolific artists. His extensive resume includes over140 exhibitions in eight countries, inclusion in over 50 public collections, mention in over 55 reference books, monographs and periodicals as well as membership in the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

In his long career, his drawings have been exhibited only rarely. Beautifully rendered and detailed, Kananginak Pootoogook’s highly narrative drawings capture the essence of arctic life: both wildlife and domestic. We are pleased to present this particularly strong collection of his drawings to you.
